这是一篇旧文，因为今天读到一篇关于旅游的文章，其中有几句话觉得很有趣，于是前来补充几句。
喜欢旅游的人越来越多，英文中关于“旅行”和“旅行者”，有好几个词经常混淆，我们今天就来做一个区分：
旅游，从概念上看，是从一地到另一地，但是有目的和时间之分。
Travel是旅行的统称，做名词和动词皆可。比如，travel document, travel ticket, travel agent…
Trip是有具体去了某处的含义，一般是短途。
Tour是指“以娱乐、休闲”为目的的旅行，当我们说喜欢旅游的时候，就是指这个tour。
关于“旅行者”，有两个词，一个是tourist，一个是traveler。根据上面对“旅游”的定义：
Traveler是从一地到另一地的旅行者，其目的可以有如下几种：
· Business
· Transit
· For pleasure
· Blaze the new trails
· No specific purpose, just traveling
…
从上面的描述可以看出，traveler的范畴广，涵盖了tourist，还包括探险活动等等。
而Tourist是以欣赏、游乐为目的的旅行for enjoyment, for fun，浮光掠影、浅尝辄止，跟团旅行的游客都是tourist，带有很浓的娱乐色彩。
这么说来，tourist只是traveler这个群体中较为初级的出游者。
还有一个词sojourner，意思是旅居者，那可不是出去十天半个月的旅行者，而是在在外居住一段时间的人。
我今天看到的文章中，有这么两句，恰到好处地揭示了traveler 和tourist之别，尤其是自称traveler的人对tourist的鄙视：
